MLC Powers Past Crown

ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. - The MLC volleyball team started the conference season off in style with a 3-0 win over Crown by the scores of 25-21, 25-14 and 25-15.

Rebecca Engelbrecht finished with ten kills in MLC's three-set win over Crown

MLC hitters Rebecca Engelbrecht and Kayla Schoeneck each had a team-best ten kills in the match. MLC finished the three-set match with a hitting percentage of .258.

Miranda Maasz had a match-high 30 assists, while libero Jennifer Draeger had 15 digs. Emily Boldt a team-best three blocks, including two solo blocks.

The Knights had to fight late into the first set, scoring five of the final six points to take it 25-21. They controlled the final two sets from the start, building leads in both the second and third games before finishing off the Storm.

With the win, MLC improved to 7-7 overall on the season and 1-0 in the UMAC. Crown dropped to 4-5 on the season and 0-1 in league play.

The Knights will return to action tomorrow (Saturday, September 24), when they travel to Northwestern for a triangular against the NWC and Gustavus. The first match is scheduled to start at 12 p.m.
