Maasz, Anthon Win UMAC Player of the Week Honors

ST. PAUL - Martin Luther College volleyball players Miranda Maasz and Alex Anthon were named UMAC Setter of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, for their play last week in helping the Knights to a 1-1 record.

Alex Anthon was named UMAC Defensive Player of the Week

Maasz averaged 11.5 assists per set for the Knights in their two matches, helping the team to a .247 attack percentage for the weekend. She also led the team with seven service aces, and averaged 2.67 digs per set. In Saturday's loss at UMM, the junior averaged 12.67 assists per set, her highest average of any match this season.

Anthon led the defensive effort in the back row, averaging 5.0 digs per set in the two matches. In the match against UMM, Anthon finished with a match-high 20 digs. The junior libero also finished the weekend with 25 serve receives without committing a receiving error.

Maasz, Anthon and the rest of the Knights will return to action on Friday, September 27, when they host North Central in the first home game of the season for MLC.
