Knights Lose in Three to Saints

NEW ULM, Minn. - The MLC volleyball team lost to conference leading St. Scholastica in three sets Friday by the scores of 25-17, 25-12 and 25-22.

The Saints broke open a 10-10 set in game one by taking seven of the next eight points to take a 17-11 lead on the way to taking the first game 25-17.

CSS went on another big run in the second set, as Molly Roith served 11 straight points for the Saints to push a 9-7 CSS lead to 20-7 as they cruised to the set win.

In the third set, the Knights held a narrow lead for much of the game, but the Saints against made a late run, turning around a 20-18 MLC lead into a 25-22 set win for CSS on its way to a sweep.

The Saints outhit the Knights .232-.094 for the match, led by Paige Hardy's 21 kills. Emily Boldt led MLC with ten kills.

Mackenzie Krentz led MLC with 26 assists, while Renee Peters had 19 digs for the Knights.

With the loss, MLC dropped to 14-11 overall and 5-5 in the UMAC, while St. Scholastica improved to 22-6 on the season and 10-0 in league play.

MLC will return to action tomorrow (Saturday, October 23), when they host a triangular against Northland and Waldorf. The first match will be between MLC and Northland, which will begin at 11 a.m.
