Knights Unable to Close Against CSS
NEW ULM, Minn. - The MLC volleyball team had chances to win the first two sets against St. Scholastica, but was unable to close them out in a 3-0 loss to the Saints by the scores of 25-21, 25-21 and 25-11
Both the first two games were tied at 21-21 before St. Scholastica finished both on 4-0 runs to take them both.
The Knights came out on fire defensively, blocking six CSS attacks in the first game, but the Saints would heat up as the match went on. After holding CSS to a hitting percentage of .044 in the first set, the Saints hit .419 and .526 in the second and third sets, respectively.
Emily Boldt had five blocks in the match, including three solo blocks, while Rachel Larson added three.
Rebecca Engelbrecht was the top hitter for the Knights with eight kills.
With the loss, MLC dropped to 8-10 on the season and 2-2 in the UMAC, while the conference-leading Saints improved to 14-5 on the season and 4-0 in league play.
MLC will return to action Wednesday, October 5, when it hosts Bethany for a match starting at 7 p.m.
