Knights Sweep Saints
NEW ULM, Minn. - The MLC volleyball team won for the third time in a row, and the sixth time in its last eight matches, in a 3-0 win over Presentation Friday night.
The Knights got off to a quick start, winning the first set 25-13, and then struggled to win the second set 25-22 before rolling in the third by a score of 25-12.
MLC hit .147 for the match as a team, while holding Presentation to -.062. The Knights really turned up the attack in the third set, hitting .458 with 14 kills in against three errors in 24 attempts.
Rebecca Engelbrecht led the Knights with ten kills, while Emily Boldt and Rachel Larson added five each. Mackenzie Krentz had a match-high 26 assists, and also had three service aces.
MLC finished with nine total blocks in a strong defensive effort, as Rachel Hein had five blocks, while Katie Siverly had two solo blocks. Jaime Eternick and Renee Peters cleaned up in the back row, finishing with 14 and 12 digs, respectively.
With the win, MLC improved to 12-8 overall and 4-2 in the UMAC, while Presentation dropped to 1-15 on the season and 1-5 in league play.
MLC will return to action tomorrow (Saturday, October 9), when it hosts Minnesota, Morris for a match scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
