Knights' Season Ends with Loss at Saints
DULUTH, Minn. - The MLC volleyball team was unable to get past top-seeded St. Scholastica in a 3-0 loss Wednesday night.
The scores of the three sets were 26-24, 25-16, 25-19.
MLC had its chances in each set to beat the Saints, who went 14-0 in the UMAC during the regular season.
The Knights came from behind in a back-and-forth first set to tie the score at 24-24 before the Saints scored the final two points to win it 26-24.
In the second set, St. Scholastica turned up the heat after MLC drew within two points at 17-15 to score eight of the final nine points of the set to win that 25-16 and take a commanding 2-0 lead in the match.
MLC continued to battle in the third set, and held a lead most of the way. The Knights were ahead 18-14, but St. Scholastica finished with the match on a 11-1 run to get the straight sets win.
The Saints outhit the Knights .210-.106 for the match, and finished the third set with an attack percentage of .343 with 17 kills.
Rebecca Engelbrecht led MLC with ten kills, while Jaime Eternick and Emily Boldt each had six. Bodlt also finished with seven blocks for the game, including four solo blocks.
With the loss, MLC finished its season with a record of 18-13, while St. Scholastica advanced to the final round of the UMAC Postseason Tournament, and improved to 28-6 on the year.
