Knights Beat Bethany in Four

NEW ULM, Minn. – The MLC volleyball team beat Bethany Lutheran 3-1 Wednesday night by the scores of 25-22, 25-19, 24-26 and 25-18.

Miranda Maasz had 42 assists in MLC's win over BLC

MLC hit .207 for the match, compared to Bethany’s .092 hitting percentage. The Knights had four players with at least ten kills, with Rebecca Engelbrecht, Rachel Hein and Katelyn Hauf each having 11 kills, while Emily Boldt added ten.

Miranda Maasz had 42 assists in the match, while Jennifer Draeger had a team best 16 digs. MLC also had eight blocks, led by six from Hein.

The Knights trailed late in the first set 17-21, but came back to score either of the final nine points to take a 1-0 lead in the match.

After controlling much of the second set to take a 2-0 lead, Bethany erased an early MLC lead and grabbed the third set.

In the fourth, erased a 14-15 deficit by scoring 11 of the final 14 points to take the set and the match.

With the win, MLC improved to 9-10 overall and 3-2 in league play, while Bethany dropped to 6-13 on the season and 2-3 in the UMAC.

MLC will return to action Friday, October 7, when it travels to Presentation for a 7 p.m. match.
