Anthon, Engelbrecht Named UMAC Player of the Week

ST. PAUL - The Martin Luther College volleyball team had two players honored as players of the week in the UMAC, as Alex Anthon was named Defensive Player of the Week, while Rebecca Engelbrecht was named Offensive Player of the Week.

Rebecca Engelbrecht was named UMAC Offensive Player of the Week for the fifth time

This is the second time this season that Anthon received the award for defense. In three matches last week, Anthon averaged 4.7 digs per set from her libero position to help MLC to a 2-1 record. This season, Anthon leads the Knights in digs (294) and digs per set (3.57). She ranks third in both categories in the UMAC.

Engelbrecht received the Offensive Player of the Week honor for the fifth time this season after averaging 4.67 kills per set in three matches. She had nine kills and hit .529 in Friday's win at North Central, and led the team in kills in two of the three matches. This season, Engelbrecht leads the UMAC in kills per set (4.16), total kills (333) and total attacks (874).

The volleyball team will return to action on Friday, October 25, when it hosts Crown for a match scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
