Women's Tennis Takes Both Matches 7-2
NEW ULM, Minn. - The women's tennis team won both matches in a double header against UM-Morris Saturday by the scores of 7-2 and 7-2.
The Knights won five of six singles matches in both matches, with Rachel Niemi (La Crosse, Wis./Luther), Carol Niemi (La Crosse, Wis./Luther), Karina Luthra (Simpsonville, S.C./LPS), Hannah Janke (Sioux Falls, S.D./LPS) and Tessa Hieb (Cleveland, Ohio/LPS) each winning twice on the day.
In doubles, the team of Rachel Niemi and Luthra won twice in the number one pairing, while the team of Lauren Gross (Oconomowoc, Wis./LPS) and Michelle Hintz (Franklin, Tenn./Independence HS) won twice in the number three pairing.
With the sweep, MLC improved to 6-7 overall and 5-4 in UMAC play. The Knights will return to action on Monday, May 3, when they travel to Bethany for a 3 p.m. match.
