Women Lose 8-1 to Saints

NEW ULM, Minn. - The MLC women's tennis team lost its conference opener by the score of 8-1 to St. Scholastica Saturday afternoon.

Rachel Niemi and the Knights lost 8-1 to CSS

Heidi Heckmann picked up the lone point for MLC, winning her number five singles match by the score of 6-2, 5-7, 10-7. Leslie Klinski also took her match to a tiebreak, but lost 10-8 in that tiebreaker in the third singles spot.

In doubles, the Saints beat the Knights 8-5, 8-5 and 8-3.

With the loss, MLC dropped to 0-4 overall and 0-1 in the UMAC, while CSS improved to 9-5 on the season and 3-0 in league play.

MLC will return to action on Tuesday, April 3, when North Central comes to New Ulm for a 3 p.m. match.
