MLC Women Lose 8-1 to NWC
NEW ULM, Minn. – The MLC women’s tennis team lost its final match of the regular season by the score of 8-1 to Northwestern Tuesday.
The Knights lost all three doubles matches by the scores of 8-5, 8-2 and 8-1, with the team of Rachel Niemi and Karina Luthra coming closest to winning a point in number one doubles.
In singles, the only point was earned by Leslie Klinski, who won her match in number three singles in straight sets by the scores of 6-1 and 7-5. Rachel Niemi took her match to a third set, but lost the tiebreaker in that set 10-3.
With the loss, MLC finishes the regular season at 4-10 overall and 4-6 in league play, good for fourth place in the UMAC and a spot in the conference tournament this weekend. Northwestern improved to 11-12 on the season and 8-2 in conference with the win.
MLC will return to action on Friday, May 4, when they play in the UMAC Tennis Championships held at Baseline Tennis Center.
