Softball Picked Seventh in Preseason Poll

ST. PAUL - The MLC softball team was picked to finish seventh in the UMAC preseason poll released Tuesday.

Sarah Free and the Knights were picked to finish seventh in the UMAC

The Knights finished in a tie for sixth place a season ago with a record of 11-23 overall and 8-13 record in conference play.

Eight starters return for MLC from that team, including all-conference performers Karla Opperman, Sarah Free and Katie Scherer in the field.

Laura Miller returns on the mound after setting school records in innings pitched, strikeouts and wins a season ago.

MLC finished with 17 points in the poll, one shy of sixth place. St. Scholastica finished first in the poll with six first place points and 48 total points.
