The softball team finished with the fourth highest team GPA in Division III last year

MLC finished with a team GPA of 3.583 in the two semesters of the 2012-13 school year, and had nine players qualify as NFCA Scholar Athletes with GPAs of 3.5 over better last year. The team's GPA of 3.542 in the second semester of last year also was the best of any softball team in the UMAC, while seven players received Academic All-UMAC honors.

“This accomplishment speaks well of the young ladies on that team,” Coach Barb Leopold said. “It speaks volumes about what their top priority is at MLC.”

She went on to say, “People usually know how a team played during the year, but seldom realize the time and commitment the players put toward their schoolwork in addition to balancing their time with practices and games. I am very proud of this group of gifted student-athletes.”
