Saints Sweep Knights
NEW ULM, Minn. - The MLC softball team was swept by St. Scholastica in a Saturday double header by the scores of 16-0 and 18-0.
The Saints used a ten-run second inning to take command of game one on the way to winning 16-0.
CSS outhit MLC 15-2 for the game, and also took advantage of five MLC errors in the field.
Laura Miller got the start on the mound for MLC, dropping to 1-6 on the season with the loss after allowing 12 runs (two earned) in 3+ innings of work.
Amber Krause and Amanda Fogle picked up the lone hits for MLC in the game.
Game two proved to be more of the same for the two teams, as the Saints beat the Knights 18-0.
CSS finished with 22 hits in the game, compared to four for MLC. Karla Opperman led MLC's hitters with two hits in the game.
Sarah Free pitched all five innings for MLC in the loss, dropping to 2-7 on the season after allowing all 18 runs (15 earned).
After the double header, MLC dropped to 3-13 overall and 0-5 in the UMAC, while CSS improved to 12-10 on the season and 7-0 in league play.
MLC will return to the field tomorrow (Sunday, April 17), when it hosts Northland for a double header starting at 12 p.m.
