MLC jumped out to an early six-run lead, and then held off a late rally by the Vikings to win game one 11-6.

The Knights took a 5-0 lead after two innings thanks to a five-run second inning. Morgan Kumbier, Caity Seastrand and Andrea Biedenbender each had RBI hits in the inning for MLC.

Kathryn Marquardt was cruising through the BLC line-up until the Knights hit a rough stretch in the top of the sixth. With the Knights leading 6-0 at the start of the inning, the Vikings took advantage of four MLC errors to score six runs off Knights' starting pitcher Kathryn Marquardt to tie the game.

MLC rallied, however, scoring five times in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead back and win the game.

Marquardt improved to 3-2 on the season with the complete game victory, allowing six runs (one earned) on eight hits.

Seastrand and Sarah Couture led the MLC hitters with three hits apiece.

The Knights scored ten times on 15 hits as they finished the sweep with a 10-4 game two win over BLC.

Kelli Doell improved to 3-1 on the season on the mound, pitching a complete game and allowing four runs (one earned) on eight hits.

Emily Wessel had a big day at the plate for MLC, scoring three runs and going 2-4 with a double and triple in the game. Emily Waldek also had a big day at the plate with three hits, while Biedenbender and Seastrand each finished with two hits.

Only the first game of the double header counted towards the UMAC standings, meaning the Knights are now 7-4 overall and 1-0 in the UMAC. BLC dropped to 1-15 on the season and 0-1 in league play.

The Knights will return to action on Saturday, April 5, when they play in the UMAC Crossover games being held at Vadnais Sports Dome.
