STORM LAKE, Iowa - The Martin Luther College women's soccer team lost its second game of a two-day trip to Buena Vista by the score of 5-2 against Illinois College Saturday afternoon.

The Knights fell behind early, allowing goals in the eighth, ninth, 14th and 26th minutes as they trailed 4-0 in the first half.

Jenna Maurer put MLC on the board with a goal in the 43rd minute off an assist from Sarah Couture to cut the deficit to three heading into the half.

Bethany Schultz scored her third goal of the weekend late in the game after IC had pushed its lead back to four, but the comeback attempt was not enough for the Knights.

Maurer finished with six of the Knights' 13 shots, including five of the team's nine shots on goal. Keely Keese started the game in goal for MLC and allowed four goals in the first half before giving way to Julia Barthels in the second half.

The Knights dropped to 1-1 on the season with the loss.

MLC will return to action on Saturday, September 7, when it hosts Presentation.
