Women Fall 1-0 at UMM

MORRIS, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's soccer team was unable to overcome a strong defense in a 1-0 loss at Minnesota Morris Saturday afternoon.

The Knights fell behind in the 20th minute, as Rachel Berns scored the game's lone goal off a corner kick by Carley Denler.

MLC had its chances, taking six shots in the first half and eight for the game, four of which ended up on goal. Bethany Schultz and Jenna Maurer each had two shots on goal for the Knights.

Keely Keese and the MLC defense helped give the Knights a chance down the stretch, as the defense held the Cougars to just four shots on goal. Keese stopped three of the four she faced in net.

MLC dropped to 9-5 on the season and 7-3 in the UMAC with the loss. UMM improved to 10-3 overall and 9-1 in league play with the win.

The Knights will return to action on Friday, October 25, when they host North Central for a 1 p.m. contest.
