Schultz Scores Two as Knights Win Late
NEW ULM, Minn. - The MLC soccer team beat North Central 3-2 Friday with the help of two goals from Bethany Schultz.
Schultz scored twice in the second half, fist off a kick from outside the box in the 65th minute, and then the game-winner in the 79th minute from outside the box. The two goals gave Schultz a team-best four on the season.
The Knights fell behind on a North Central goal in the 15th minute, but rallied to tie the game in the 41st minute on a goal by Hannah Mattek from Schultz.
Schultz's first goal gave the Knights a lead they were unable to keep, as the Rams tied the game in the 73rd minute, but her second tally provided the final margin.
MLC outshot NCU 26-7 for the game. Schultz finished with two goals on the day, while Mattek had three shots.
With the win, MLC improved to 5-3 on the season, while NCU dropped to 3-5.
The Knights will return to action tomorrow (Saturday, October 1), when they host UM-Morris in the Homecoming game. The game is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
