Bethany Schultz scored a pair of goals in MLC's 5-2 win at Buena Vista

The Knights were led by a pair of goals from senior Bethany Schultz, while Casey Sauer, Lauren Maertz and Jenna Maurer each added one goal. Maurer, Sauer and Rachel Lindwurm each finished with one assist.

Schultz started the scoring in the tenth minute on a free kick, and Sauer added to the lead three minutes later by scoring off a rebound to give the Knights a 2-0 lead just 13 minutes into the game.

After a Buena Vista goal to cut the lead to 2-1, Schultz scored her second of the game in the 43rd minute off a pass from Rachel Lindwurm to push the Knights ahead by two heading into the half.

MLC would continue to pour on the offense in the second half, with Sauer and Maurer scoring insurance goals to give the Knights a 5-1 lead before a late goal by the Beavers moved the final margin to 5-2.

Keely Keese started in goal for MLC and played much of the game, stopping four of the five shots she faced before coming to the bench in the final ten minutes.

MLC will return to action tomorrow (Saturday, August 31) when it plays Illinois College at Buena Vista. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
