MLC Women Fall 6-1 at CSS
DULUTH, Minn. - The MLC women's soccer team lost at St. Scholastica Saturday by the score of 6-1.
The Saints took an early lead, as Kaylee Gombold scored the first of two goals on the day in the 11th minute of action to put CSS up 1-0.
The Saints tacked on one more before the half, scoring in the 37th minute to put MLC in a 2-0 hole.
MLC continued to have little answer for the CSS offense in the second half, as the Saints scored twice more to push their lead to 4-0 before MLC got on the board on a goal by Alydia Lee. The goal was Lee's sixth on the season, and came off a pass from Bethany Schultz.
Lee's goal would be the only offense the Knights could muster the rest of the way, while the Saints tacked on two more to push the final margin to 6-1.
CSS outshot MLC 35-3 overall, and 16-3 on goal for the game. Lee finished with two shots for MLC, while Schultz had the third.
With the loss, MLC dropped to 7-9-1 on the season and 4-6-1 in the UMAC, while St. Scholastica improved to 12-4-1 overall and 11-0-1 in conference play.
MLC will return to action on Tuesday, October 27, when it hosts Bethany. Game time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
