The two players helped the Knights sweep the first conference weekend of the season, defeating Northwestern 5-3 and North Central 4-0. The win over Northwestern was the first time the Knights have beaten the Eagles since 2005.

Maurer dominated offensively during the two games, scoring three goals and assisting on two more. She scored one goal and added two assists in the UNW win, and scored two goals against NCU. The first-year midfielder now leads the UMAC with seven goals and 17 points through six games.

Sauer contributed on both sides of the field in the two wins, scoring her third goal of the season to help the team race out to a 5-1 lead in the win at UNW, and then leading a defensive effort that held NCU without a shot on goal in Saturday's win.

Maurer, Sauer and the rest of the Knights will return to the pitch on Friday, September 27, when they host Minnesota Morris in a game scheduled to start at 4:15 p.m.
