Women Win at Crown
ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. - All ten players on the roster scored as the MLC women's basketball team won 74-39 at Crown Friday night.
The Knights took command of the game with just over six minutes left in the first half, finishing the period on a 21-4 run to take a 39-18 lead into the break.
The run didn't stop when the second half started, as MLC continued to build on its lead. The Knights started the second half with a 21-3 run over the first 8:20 of play, building their lead to 39 points at 60-21 before cruising to the win at the final 35-point margin.
Four players scored in double figures for MLC, led by Hannah Hackbarth with 12 points. Alex Anthon scored 11 points and also finished with seven assists and four rebounds, while Brittney Gossen and Rebecca Engelbrecht each had ten points. Engelbrecht also led the Knights with eight rebounds off the bench.
The Knights dominated most statistical categories in the game, shooting 41.4 percent from the field while holding Crown to 25.0 percent shooting. MLC also forced 29 Crown turnovers in the game.
With the win, MLC improved to 11-13 overall and 9-4 in UMAC play, while Crown dropped to 1-19 on the season and 0-13 in conference action.
MLC will return to action tomorrow (Saturday, February 16), when it travels to Minnesota-Morris for a game scheduled to start at 3 p.m. The game is this week's UMAC Game of the Week.
