Erica Babinec and the Knights lost to Bemidji State 108-63

The Knights played the Beavers tough early and jumped out to a 15-12 lead with less than 12 minutes to play in the first half when Erica Babinec (Onalaska, Wis./Luther) hit a three-pointer to break a 12-12 tie. After several Bemidji scores that gave them the lead again, Amanda Gardner (Morrice, Mich./MLS) hit a jump shot that cut the Beavers lead to one at 20-19 at the nine minute mark.

That shot would be the last time the Knights were able to stay close, however, as the Beavers followed with a 9-0 run over the next 2:30 of play, and finished the half on a 35-10 run to take a 55-29 lead going into the break.

Bemidji continued to push ahead in the second half, pushing their lead to 30 points in the first five minutes of the half and cruising to the 45-point win.

Sarah Free (Plover, Wis./LPS) continued her strong play in defeat for the Knights, scoring a team-high 21 points on 7-12 shooting from the floor, including 5-7 from beyond the three-point arc. As a team, the Knights went 21-58 from the floor, but 8-15 from long distance.

Also filling the box score was Babinec, who joined Free in double figures with ten points, four rebounds and three assists, while Carrie Fritzler added nine points, four rebounds and two steals in 24 minutes before fouling out.

With the loss, MLC dropped to 0-3 on the season.

The Knights will return to action tomorrow (Nov. 21), when they play Grinnell in a game scheduled to tip-off at 3 p.m.
