Women Lose 73-50 at Waldorf
FOREST CITY, Iowa - The MLC women's basketball team dropped to 0-5 for the season with a 73-50 loss at Waldorf Monday night.
The Knights fell behind from the beginning, struggling throughout the first half offensively as they shot 5-31 from the floor in the first 20 minutes while Waldorf built a 21-point halftime lead.
MLC played a little better in the second half offensively, as they were outscored by only two, but turnovers also hurt the Knights' chances. For the game, the Knights committed 34 turnovers.
Sarah Free (Plover, Wis./LPS) led the Knights in scoring with 15 and was the lone MLC player in double figures. Carrie Fritzler (Deford, Mich./MLS) and Amanda Selle (Appleton, Wis./FVL) each played solid all-around games and scored nine points, with Fritzler also adding a team-high 11 rebounds. Also contributing were Emily Boldt (Mukwonago, Wis./LPS), who had two blocks, and Heidi Wilz (Weyauwega, Wis./FVL), who grabbed six rebounds off the bench.
The Knights will return to action this weekend, when they open the UMAC season with a trip to Presentation on Friday, December 4. The game is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m., and will be followed by the men's game.[BOX SCORE]
