Second Half Struggles Lead to Loss at Dordt
SIOUX CENTER, Iowa - The MLC women's basketball team trailed by just three at halftime, but was outscored 34-17 in the second half in a 62-42 loss at Dordt.
The Knights, playing their third game in five days, kept things close in the first half despite shooting 8-24 from the field, as they held Dordt to 38.5 percent shooting and forced 14 turnovers.
The second half would be a different story, as the Knights struggled to gain any traction on the offensive end. MLC turned the ball over 18 times and finished 7-32 from the field in the final 20 minutes, helping Dordt start the second half on a 22-5 run to build its lead to 20 points and take control of the game the rest of the way.
Alex Anthon finished as the Knights' leading scorer with 12 points on 5-7 shooting. Rebecca Engelbrecht joined her in double figures with 11 points.
The loss dropped MLC to 1-8 to start the season, while Dordt improved to 7-7 with the win.
MLC will return to action on Saturday, December 15, when it travels to Wartburg. The game starts at 2 p.m.
