Poor Shooting Night Dooms Knights
LINCOLN, Neb. - The MLC women's basketball team struggled offensively in an 85-65 loss to Central Saturday in a game played at Nebraska Wesleyan.
The Knights shot 27.4 percent from the floor for the game, including a 3-17 day from beyond the arc, while Central shot 47.5 percent from the field and 8-18 from three-point range.
MLC got much of it's offense from the free throw line, attempting 42 shots from the charity stripe and making 28 of them.
Central built a first half lead as high as 14 points before going into halftime with a 45-32 lead, and then built it as high as 24 points in the second half before finishing with the final 20-point margin.
Amanda Burk led the Knights with 22 points and 14 rebounds, helping her to a spot on the all-tournament team for her play in the two games. She finished the game 6-11 from the field, and 10-13 from the foul line.
Brittney Gossen joined her in double figures with 11 points off the bench.
With the loss, MLC dropped to 1-2 on the season, while Central improved to 2-1 with the win.
MLC will return to action on Monday, November 22, when it hosts Buena Vista in the home opener at 7 p.m.
