Offensive Struggles Lead to Loss for MLC Women
WAVERLY, Iowa - The MLC women's basketball team was unable to generate any offense in a 60-33 loss Saturday.
The MLC defense kept the Knights in the game as long as it could, holding Wartburg to 36.1 percent shooting and forcing 19 turnovers, but the offense was unable to take advantage. The Knights finished the game shooting 21.5 percent from the field with 20 total turnovers.
MLC took an early lead at the start of the game, but Wartburg overcame that deficit and built a 13-point lead at the half by the score of 30-17.
The second half was more of the same, with the Knights shooting 6-33 from the field and 0-3 from beyond the three-point arc after the break, allowing Wartburg to build its lead to the final 27-point margin.
Hannah Rothe finished as the Knights' scoring leader with eight points, while Alex Anthon and Rebecca Engelbrecht grabbed 11 and ten rebounds, respectively.
With the loss, MLC dropped to 1-9 on the season, while Wartburg improved to 4-3.
The Knights will return to action on Monday, December 17, when they host Iowa Wesleyan in a game scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
