The two teams battled back and forth throughout the first half, with the Knights putting themselves in good position at the break with a 34-33 lead with 20 minutes to play.

After the two teams traded baskets to start the half, the Knights started to struggle offensively. With MLC leading 46-45 with 12:24 to play, the Cougars went on a 13-0 run, holding the Knights scoreless for nearly six minutes as they built a double-digit lead.

MLC was able to cut the Cougar lead to ten points at 65-55 with 3:35 to play, but weren't able to generate any offense the rest of the way as UMM finished strong to get the win.

The Knights finished the game shooting 27.5 percent from the field, but went especially cold in the second half to the tune of 17.1 percent (6-35). MLC was able to hold UMM to 35.1 percent shooting for the game, but the Cougars made up for it by outscoring the Knights 20-12 from the free throw line.

Leah Nass finished with a team-best 14 points for MLC, but the Cougars forced her to take 20 shots in order to get to that number. Alex Anthon and Hannah Hackbarth joined her in double figures with 13 and 11 points, respectively, while Anthon also added a team-best six assists.

With the loss, MLC finished the regular season 13-12 overall and 10-4 in league play, good for a third-place tie in the final conference standings. Because the Knights lost the tie-breaker to Northwestern, MLC will play at top-seeded Minnesota Morris in Wednesday's semi-final round of the UMAC Postseason Tournament. Game time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
