Knights Roll Through Storm
NEW ULM, Minn. - The MLC women's basketball team finished the first half of conference play undefeated with an 80-52 win over Crown Saturday afternoon.
The Knights improved their school-record win streak to eight games with the win, shooting 50 percent from the field and assisting on 26 of 30 made baskets.
Defensively, MLC made it tough for the Storm, creating 22 turnovers and holding Crown to 30.4 percent shooting from the field.
MLC took control early in the game and had everyone on the roster involved, as MLC finished with 50 bench points in the game.
Hannah Rothe and Sarah Free led the Knights off the bench, with Rothe scoring a career-high 17 points on 6-8 shooting, while Free scored 13 points, grabbed five rebounds and dished out four assists. Brittney Gossen led the starters with ten points.
With the win, MLC improved to 13-5 on the season and 7-0 in the UMAC, while Crown dropped to 1-15 and 0-7 in league play.
MLC will return to action on Tuesday, January 31, when it travels to Bethany for a game scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
