The game was back-and-forth throughout, with neither team taking a lead bigger than seven at any point in the game.

MLC had a strong start to the game, taking a seven-point lead at 19-12, but Dubuque made a run to close the half with a 33-31 lead.

After a Brittney Gossen three-pointer gave MLC a 56-53 lead with 7:12 to play in the game, the Knights were held without a field goal until an Amanda Burk layup with seven seconds to play in the game, allowing Dubuque to take control and win the game down the stretch.

Three MLC players finished the game in double figures, led by 14 points from Hannah Hackbarth. Hannah Rothe and Gossen each finished with 13 points, while Alex Anthon, Leah Nass and Burk each finished with seven rebounds.

With the loss, MLC fell to 0-2 to start the season, while Dubuque improved to 2-1.

MLC will return to action tomorrow (Sunday, November 25) when it plays UW-Stout in the second game of the two-day tournament. The game is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
