Loescher Sets Record at UMAC Championships

MORRIS, Minn. – Andrew Loescher set a conference record in the Javelin Throw at the UMAC Championships at UM-Morris, and was named the UMAC Field Athlete of the Meet, helping MLC finish fourth at the event.

Loescher broke the record with a throw of 59.18 meters, shattering the previous mark by more than five meters, and also giving him a provisional qualifying throw. He also finished fourth in the Shot Put at the meet.

Loescher was joined by two other top five finishers in the Javelin, as Phil Loescher took third, while Micah Foelske finished fourth. Phil Loescher also took eighth in the Discus.

The Knights had several runners finish in the top five, as Ben Birner took third in the 800 Meters, while Nathan Loersch took third in the 1500 Meters. The 4 x 400 relay team also finished third.

In the field events, Mark Waldschmidt took second in the High Jump, while Jason Liebenow finished third in the Pole Vault. Jarrod Pfarr finished fourth in the Long Jump.

UM-Morris won the team event with a total of 239 points. MLC finished with 59 points.
