Men's Soccer Rolls in Opener
NEW ULM, Minn. - The MLC men's soccer team jumped on top in the early moments, and played strong throughout in a 2-0 season opening win over Lakeland Saturday afternoon.
Steve White got the Knights on the board with a goal on a penalty kick in the game's eighth minute to give MLC the early lead.
In 40th minute, freshman Ryan Lemke sent home a centering pass from Levi Dunsmoor to put MLC ahead 2-0.
The two goals proved more than enough for the Knights, thanks to a strong defensive effort. Goalkeeper Benjamin Zietlow stopped 15 shots on the day, and kept a clean sheet in his first game in goal for the Knights.
MLC was outshot 26-18 total on the day, and 15-5 on goal.
The Knights will return to action on Friday, September 10, when they host Waldorf for a 4 p.m. tilt.
