MIWAUKEE – The MLC men’s soccer team opened the season with a 3-0 loss at Wisconsin Lutheran College Saturday afternoon.

Stephen Roekle and the Knights lost 3-0 at WLC

The Knights were outshot 12-3 in the first half, but trailed just 1-0 heading into the break after the Warriors scored the lone goal in the 21st minute of play.

WLC added to the lead in the second half, scoring in the 80th and 83rd minutes to put the game out of reach.

MLC was outshot 22-5 for the game, including a 13-1 deficit in shots on goal. Kaleb Buch had the lone shot on target for the Knights, while Stephen Roekle and Ryan Lemke each had two shots.

With the loss, MLC started the season 0-1, while WLC improved to 2-0.

The Knights will return to the pitch on Wednesday, September 5, when they travel to Gustavus for a game scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
