NEW ULM, Minn. - The MLC men's soccer team was unable to answer a goal early in the second half in a 1-0 loss to Northwestern Friday.

Andy Danner and the MLC defense held NWC to five shots on net in a 1-0 loss

The Knights held the Eagles scoreless for the first 50 minutes of play, but Northwestern's Sam Mann knocked a crossing pass into an open net in the 51st minute of play to score the game's only goal.

MLC was outshot 20-11 for the match, but held the Eagles to five shots on net, compared to the Knights four, and outshot NWC 8-6 in the second half.

Kaleb Buch and John Paustian each had four shots for MLC, while goalie Ben Zietlow finished with four saves.

With the loss, MLC dropped to 4-8-1 overall and 1-6-1 in the UMAC, while NWC improved to 7-5-2 on the season and 6-1-1 in league play.

The Knights will return to action tomorrow (October 16) when they host Crown for a 12 p.m. game.
