Late Goal Pushes BLC Past MLC Men
NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College men's soccer team lost 2-1 against Bethany Lutheran on a windy Saturday afternoon at Knight Field.
The Knights fell behind early, as BLC's Laye Kaba scored in the 40th minute to give the Vikings a 1-0 edge at the break.
MLC would tie things up early in the second half, however, when Aaron Markgraf scored in the 56th minute. The goal was Markgraf's fifth of the season.
The two teams remained tied until the 81st minute, when Michael Loguercio sent home a pass from Jorge Perez to give BLC the final 2-1 margin.
Eric Hahn finished the game with ten saves in goal for the Knights, while Jacob Shepherd led the MLC offensive attack with five shots, including three on goal.
MLC dropped to 4-9 on the season and 3-5 in the UMAC with the loss, while BLC improved to 8-4 overall and 6-2 in league play with the win.
The Knights will return to action on Friday, October 18, when they travel to Crown for a 3:15 contest.
