Knights Lose 3-1 at Northwestern
ST. PAUL - The MLC men's soccer team lost 3-1 at Northwestern Thursday afternoon.
The Knights fell behind 1-0 in the fourth minute of the first half on a goal from Sam Mann, and then gave up a goal to Stephen Ricks in the 26th minute to fall behind 2-0 at the half.
Ben Nommensen put the Knights in striking distance in the 55th minute on a goal off a pass from Stephen Roekle, cutting the deficit 2-1, his fifth of the season, but MLC was unable to score the tying goal. Northwestern added the third goal in the final minute of play to close the game at 3-1.
The Knights were outshot 20-5 in the game, and 8-4 on goal. Ben Zietlow saved five of the eight shots in he faced in goal.
With the loss, MLC dropped to 3-10 on the season and 1-6 in the UMAC, while Northwestern improved to 7-6 overall and 6-1-1 in league play.
The Knights will return to action on Saturday, October 15, when they travel to Crown for a game starting at 2 p.m.
