Early Deficit Too Much to Overcome at Crown
ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. - The MLC men's soccer team fell behind by two early in the game and was unable to come back in a 2-1 loss at Crown Saturday.
The Storm got two goals in the first half from Jon Schultz, the first in the 12th minute and the second in the 30th minute to take a 2-0 lead.
Freshman Ben Nommensen put the Knights on the board with an unassisted goal in the 33rd minute, his sixth of the season, to cut the deficit to 2-1.
That would be as far as the Knights could get, however, as they were held to three shots in the second half as the Storm held the lead the rest of the way.
Ben Zietlow saved 11 of the 13 shots he faced in goal for the Knights, while Kaleb Buch had a team-high six shots (three on goal).
With the loss, MLC dropped to 3-12 overall and 1-8 in the UMAC, while Crown improved to 6-7 on the season and 5-4 in league play.
The Knights will return to action on Tuesday, October 18, when they travel to Bethany for a game under the lights starting at 7 p.m.
