Knights Struggle in Finale at CSS
DULUTH, Minn. - The MLC football team was unable to get anything going on either side of the ball in a 66-10 loss at St. Scholastica Saturday.
The Knights started the game with a scoring drive, capping a 16-play drive that went 61 yards with a 33-yard field goal by Shawn Scherer to take a 3-0 lead.
It would be all CSS from that point, as the Saints scored on each of their next ten drives. Alex Thiry had a big day passing for CSS, going 22-27 through the air for 413 yards and five touchdowns. Receiver Nick Thiry had eight catches for 187 yards and three touchdowns for the Saints.
The Knights' lone touchdown came on the last drive of the game, with Mark Voss running 21 yards for the score.
CSS outgained the Knights 665-201 on the day, including a 439-18 edge in passing yards.
Tyler Dorn and Joe Lindloff each had 66 yards rushing for MLC, while Lindloff added seven yards passing.
Defensively, Nick Kressin led the team with eight tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss, while Chuqee Fletcher added seven tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, and 0.5 sack.
With the loss, MLC finished the season 2-8 overall and 2-7 in the conference, while St. Scholastica 9-0 on the season and 8-0 in league play.
