Second Half Struggles Lead to Loss at NCU
MINNEAPOLIS - The MLC men's basketball team started strong, but was unable to keep up in the second half in a 96-78 loss at North Central Tuesday night.
MLC led for parts of the first half, but a late run at the end of the half by the Rams tied the game at 38-38 heading into the break.
NCU took the game over in the second half, shooting 54.1 percent from the field while holding MLC to 38.7 percent, and was able to build the lead as the Knights wore down late in the half.
Nathan Roeder was the big scorer for the Rams, scoring 34 in the game on 10-20 shooting from the field and 11-11 from the line.
MLC put five players in double figures, with Justin Danell leading the way with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Ben Edmundson, Josh Danell and Galen Holzhueter all finished with 12 points, while Craig Wilke scored a career-high 11 points, all coming in the first half.
The Knights dropped to 0-15 in the loss, while NCU improved to 9-9 on the season.
MLC will return to action on Friday, January 27, when it hosts Northwestern for a game scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
