Presentation Rides Huge First Half to Win
ABERDEEN, S.D. - The MLC men's basketball team fell behind by 26 points in the first half to Presentation on the way to a 96-80 loss to the Saints Saturday.
Presentation finished the first half shooting 71.9 percent from the field (23-32) and 66.7 percent from beyond the three-point line (8-12), while MLC struggled from the field, shooting 25.6 percent (11-43). Michael Babcock led PC with 19 points in the half on 7-11 shooting from the floor and 5-8 from downtown.
Greg Holzhueter tried to rally the Knights in the second half, scoring 25 of his career-high 34 points after the break, but the Knights were never able to get the deficit into single digits before the Saints closed the door on the game.
Holzhueter shot 13-22 from the field to get his 34 points, and also added four assists. Galen Holzhueter finished with 16 points and ten rebounds, while Nate Bauer had 11 points.
Presentation finished with five players in double figures, led by Babcock's 23 points. Logan Diede and Channing Coffey added 22 and 21 points, respectively, for the Saints.
With the loss, MLC dropped to 5-14 on the season and 4-6 in the UMAC, while PC improved to 6-15 overall and 3-7 in conference play.
MLC will return to action on Friday, February 11, when it hosts St. Scholastica in a double header of men's and women's basketball starting at 5:30 p.m., with the men starting around 7:30 p.m.
