Knights Offense Sputters in Loss to Saints
NEW ULM, Minn. - The MLC men's team was unable to keep pace on the offensive end in a 66-59 loss to St. Scholastica Saturday night.
The Knights struggled offensively to shoot 33.9 percent for the game, but hung around with solid defense to trail by only three at the half.
CSS picked up the pace in the second half, shooting 56.5 percent from the floor after the half, and also made 13 of 15 attempts from the charity stripe to ice the game away. MLC was held to 35.3 percent shooting the half.
Greg Holzhueter (Mankato, Minn./MVL) finished with a game-high 18 points and added four rebounds in the loss, while backcourt mate Nathan Bauer (Lake Mills, Wis./Lakeside) added 14 points. Ryan Kolander (Brookfield, Wis./WISCO) finished with a team-high seven rebounds and added seven points despite playing through foul trouble that limited him to 22 minutes on the night.
With the loss, MLC dropped to 7-16 overall and 4-10 in the conference, while St. Scholastica improved to 9-16 on the season and 6-8 in the UMAC.
