Justin Danell set the school record with eight blocked shots against UMM

The game was physical inside, with only 20 fouls called in the game, helping Danell swat eight Cougar shots, while his brother Josh Danell added four blocks in the game.

The first half was a defensive slugfest, with neither team shooting better than 26 percent from the field. UMM held a 22-16 lead thanks to 11 MLC turnovers.

MLC made a run to start the second half, cutting the deficit to two points at 33-31, but it would be the closest it got the rest of the way, as UMM responded with a 12-2 run to take the lead into double digits, where it stood the rest of the way.

Galen Holzhueter led MLC with 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while Justin Eternick scored 12. Justin Danell finished with a game-high 11 rebounds to go with his eight points and eight blocks.

With the loss, MLC dropped to 0-19 overall and 0-9 in the UMAC, while UMM improved to 8-11 on the season and 5-4 in league play.

MLC will return to action tomorrow (Saturday, February 4), when it hosts Presentation for a 5 p.m. game.
