The award is given to one men's and women's Division III basketball player who excels in three areas: on the court, in the classroom, and in the community.

The voting for the award will be concluded on March 13, with the winners announced on March 20.

Holzhueter finished his career at MLC as the school's all-time leader in points (1,704), field goals (671), rebounds (680) and free throws (339), and this season became the second player in program history to score at least 500 points in a single season. He also is an eight-time Academic All-UMAC honoree, earning the honor in basketball, baseball and football.
