Eagles Take Down Knights
ST. PAUL, Minn. - The men's basketball team got off to a very slow start and never recovered in a 93-55 loss at Northwestern Saturday.
The Eagles started the game on a 10-0 run, and led by as many as 27 points before heading into the half with a 50-25 lead.
The second half would prove no better for the Knights, as they were never able to deficit back inside 20 points and trailed by as many as 41 before the final 38-point margin was final.
Northwestern finished the game shooting 58.8 percent from the floor, and also made 11 of its 23 attempts from beyond the three-point arc. The Knights finished the game at 33.8 percent shooting from the floor.
Greg Holzhueter (Mankato, Minn./MVL) led the Knights with 16 points, while Scott Henrich (Milwaukee, Wis./LPS) finished with 11 points off the bench. Justin Danell (New Ulm, Minn./MVL) and Derick Rosenbaum (Phoenix, Ariz./MLS) each finished with eight points for the Knights.
With the loss, MLC dropped to 5-14 on the season and 2-8 in the UMAC, while Northwestern improved to 15-6 overall and 9-1 in league play.
The Knights will return to action on Friday, February 12, when they host UM-Morris. The game is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.[BOX SCORE]
