Crown Holds Off Knights Down the Stretch
ST. BONFIFACIUS, Minn. - The MLC men's basketball team lost at Crown by the score of 86-76 Friday night.
The Knights trailed by as many as 15 in the first half, but a 13-2 run towards the end of the half helped MLC cut the deficit to six at 39-33 heading into the break.
The Storm led the entire second half, but were never able to pull away with a comfortable lead. Crown's biggest lead in the half 11 points, but the Knights cut the Storm's lead to three on two different occasions, the latest of which came with 4:51 remaining in the game after three Josh Danell free throws.
Crown would hold on down the stretch, however, building its lead back to double figures on the way the ten-point win.
Kaleb Buch finished as the high scorer for MLC with 18 points, and also added four rebounds and four assists. Galen Holzhueter added 17 points, while Luke Rothe and Josh Danell joined them in double figures with 11 and ten points, respectively. Danell also led the team with nine rebounds.
With the loss, MLC dropped to 4-20 overall and 3-10 in the UMAC, while Crown improved to 11-13 on the season and 6-7 in league play with the win.
MLC will return to action tomorrow (Saturday, February 16), when it travels to Minnesota-Morris for a game scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
