Stokke, Ziel Named Honorable Mention All-UMAC
ST. PAUL - MLC baseball players Aaron Stokke and Jacob Ziel were named Honorable Mention All-UMAC Tuesday in a voting done by the coaches in the conference.
Stokke played catcher and the outfield for the Knights, batting .336 and leading the team in hits (37), doubles (six) and runs batted in (17). The sophomore was also 10-52 in throwing out opposing base stealers on the season.
Ziel was a contributor on the mound and in the field, but was recognized for his work as a pitcher after throwing 59.2 innings with an ERA of 4.83. Ziel, a sophomore, finished with a record of 3-5 on the season with 54 strikeouts and five complete games.
Joe Blum was the MLC recipient of the Sportsmanship Award, given to one player on each team who exemplifies sportsmanship throughout the year. Blum was the lone senior on the MLC roster this season, and pitched in eight games with a record of 2-5.
