MLC Loses Two at Gustavus
ST. PETER, Minn. - The MLC baseball team lost both games of its double header at Gustavus on Monday by the scores of 10-1 and 7-0.
Gustavus outhit MLC 18-4 on the way to taking game one by a score of 10-1.
Tyler Dorn got the start on the mound for MLC and picked up the loss after allowing two runs on six hits in three innings, dropping his record to 0-2 on the season.
Greg Holzhueter drove in the lone run in the game, scoring Ryan Schmeling from third base on a ground out to the second baseman.
Gustavus jumped out to a quick lead and never looked back in a 7-0 win over MLC in game two.
Gustavus scored six runs in the second inning and one more in the third off MLC starter Joel Hering, who recovered from a rough start to go the distance without allowing any more runs in the last three innings.
Greg Holzhueter, Josh Schultz and Schmeling finished with one hit apiece for MLC.
With the two losses, MLC dropped to 4-17 on the season, while Gustavus improved to 9-16.
The Knights will return to action on Friday, April 29, when they play Northwestern in game one of a three-game series. Friday's game is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
