The Knights won game one on the strength of a terrific pitching performance from Jake Ziel, who picked up the win to move to 1-0 on the season.

Ziel threw a complete game, striking out seven while allowing only six hits in the win. Ziel also finished with one of MLC's three hits at the plate, along with Joe Schmudlach and Joel Hering.

In game two, Geneva struck for three runs in the first inning and two more in the second off MLC starter Matt Olson. They would add two more insurance runs off Olson later to help get the final 7-1 margin.

Olson pitched five innings for the Knights, striking out five while walking one and allowing nine hits.

Following the split, MLC moved to 3-2 on the season.

The Knights will return to action down in Fort Pierce with a double header tomorrow (Tuesday, March 5) against Marywood. Game one is scheduled to start at 12 p.m.
