Knights Drop Extra Inning Affair
FORT PIERCE, Fla. - The MLC baseball team showed a great deal of improvement in all facets of the game in their second game of the season, but dropped a 6-5 game to Marywood in 10 innings to fall to 0-2 on their season-opening trip.
The Knights outhit Marywood 11-9 for the game, with Joe Janke (Big Bend, Wis./WISCO), Tyler Morgan (New Ulm, Minn./MVL) and Stephen Apt (Crete, Ill./Illinois Lutheran) leading the way with two hits apiece, while Stephen Gurgel (Mequon, Wis./KMLHS) hit a triple in the game.
Janke got the start for the Knights and pitched six strong innings, before giving way to the bullpen. The MLC defense showed improvement from Friday's game, cutting the total number of errors from five against Lebanon Valley to two on Saturday. Joe Blum (Bonduel, Wis./FVL) picked up the loss for MLC out of the bullpen.
MLC will return to action down in Fort Pierce on Monday, March 8, when it plays Geneva in a double header starting at 4 p.m.
