Baseball Splits Double Header at Presentation
ABERDEEN, S.D. - The MLC baseball team split a double header at Presentation Friday, losing game one 14-9 before winning game two 6-2.
Presentation scored nine times in the first three innings on the way to winning game one 14-9.
MLC took a 3-0 lead in the first inning, but Presentation answered with five in the second and four more in the third to take command of the game.
Greg Holzhueter had three hits and scored three runs in the game, while Joe Janke, Jacob Ziel, Joel Hering and Galen Holzhueter each had two hits.
Ziel got the start on the mound and allowed nine runs (six earned) in three innings of work as he dropped to 2-5 on the season.
MLC scored in five of the first six innings to gain a lead and get the win by a score of 6-1 in game two.
MLC outhit Presentation 11-7 in the game, led by three hits apiece by Greg Holzhueter and Janke. Greg Holzhueter also scored two runs, while Janke drove two runs home.
Janke went the distance on the mound for the Knights, allowing the one run as he improved to 3-5 on the season.
With the split, MLC moved to 7-22 overall and 7-13 in the UMAC, while Presentation moved to 15-16 on the season and 11-8 in league play.
The two teams will finish up the series with one game tomorrow (May 7) starting at 10 a.m.
